Ingredients:


* 1 (14.5 ounces) can of diced tomatoes, undrained

* 1 (15-ounce) can of tomato sauce

* 1/2 cup water

* 1 tablespoon olive oil

* 1/2 onion, chopped

* 2 cloves garlic, minced

* 1 teaspoon dried oregano

* 1/2 teaspoon dried basil

* 1/4 teaspoon salt

* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper


Instructions:

1. In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened about 5 minutes.

3. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.

4. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.

5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

6. Use the sauce to top your favorite pizza crust.

  • You can also use fresh tomatoes in this recipe. If you do, you will need to chop them up and cook them in the saucepan until they are soft.
